Butler's Orchard, Germantown, MD (Saturday afternoon)
"So--" Paris said, waving her hand at the hundreds of sugar-ed up children, thousands of pumpkins, and a long line for cider and doughnuts, --welcome to a corn festival thing."
She shrugged. "We get strange around Halloween, I guess."

"For teaching about pokemon?"
Even to a Gem from Homeworld, that didn't exactly seem like a punishment fit for the crime.

That's not how prison works, Paris.

It really was too bad that Paris was a disgusting lump of sentient organic matter. That would definitely be a strike against her back home.

"Well, I'm pretty pragmatic," Paris said, nodding.
And mean.

"I suppose they'd appreciate that..."
They wouldn't. Peridot had attempted pragmatism and Yellow Diamond had attempted to blow her up.

It was probably a good thing that Peridot had no intentions of ever returning to Homeworld. Oh boy.
"You really don't see enough pragmatism out there, do you?"
She could be very pragmatic herself! When she understood her environment enough to make educated decisions, anyway.

Peridot nodded her agreement. She had seen quite a lot of that, in fact.
"The real problem is when someone in a position of power has everyone else fooled too."

Peridot blinked and tilted her head.
"Actually, I was talking about Yellow Diamond."
But eh, close enough.

"Oh! I like dirt!"
Have patience with her, Paris. She was a rock.

"We have to take a tractor and a wagon to get there," Paris said. "It's all so...charming."
You aren't supposed to say charming like it physically pains you.

Peridot looked around curiously at that.
"Which one is the tractor?"
The wagon thing, that was straightforward enough. She'd hauled around things in a little red wagon before. But a tractor? That sounded robust.

Peridot looked around for something that fit that description as she followed after Paris. And then her face lit up when she spotted it.
"It's very solid."
She wanted one.

"I don't breathe," Peridot said easily, leaning forward for a better look. "I wonder where I can get one..."
Maybe she'd have to make a trip back to her own Earth and see if there was one of these in the barn...
