If you think Paris wasn't taking Rosa's class challenge EXTREMELY SERIOUSLY, you had clearly never met her.

She was dressed in dark clothing--the better to blend in with the shadows, like a proper cat burgler, even if cat burglers probably didn't bring cell phones and graph paper to map out which teacher was in what spot. "Zack," she read from the door tag. "He's the one at the dog shelter. Probably hasn't rigged the door to kill us."

She wrote that down.

"Maybe it's an old person thing?"

"He doesn't look very old, though."

Pretty attractive for a human in spangles. But not old.

"He is and isn't," Paris said. "I think it's some weird time jump thing? Because he talks like my grandpa used to but has arms for days."

"They are really nice arms," Vette mused, staring intently at the screen. "... You know what, he's welcome to be disappointed in me any time."

"He teaches Civics with his partner, who's also hot in a much older old guy way."

"Note to self: Take eye candy class if I ever get to choose these things," Vette said as the video ended. And then she grinned as she looked at Paris. "So, are we done here for the night?"

They'd ruled out two rooms and now they were glittery. That seemed like an outing well spent, to Vette.

"Yeah, I think it's time to take about a million showers and regroup for later," Paris admitted.

"Then it's settled," Vette said, still smiling. "Rid ourselves of the glitter, try again another day."

Maybe make off with some puppies whenever that day came...

Paris nodded. "I'll pull up the old radio broadcasts and try to put together pysch profiles of the rest of the teachers, see which ones seem like good bets."

Because of course she would.

"Wow," Vette said, blinking at her. "You really don't do anything by halves, do you?"

She wasn't sure whether to be impressed or terrified.

Most people went with a healthy mix of both.

"Nope," she said. "It's how I'll get into Harvard."

"Which is a good thing?"

Like Vette knew what a Harvard was.

"It's basically the best college on the planet," Paris explained.

"Aw, you're going to stay local to go to college," Vette said, smiling brightly. "That's adorably quaint."

Vette kind of lived to troll people with high opinions of themselves.

Paris rose to the bait quite predictably. "Well, yeah. We don't all have spaceships, smartypants."

"Which really is a shame," Smartypants replied easily. "Just imagine the quality of schooling you can get when you have a whole galaxy of higher education to pick from."

"Maybe grad school," Paris said, frowning thoughtfully.

"That's right," Vette said encouragingly. "Reach for the stars, Paris."

Possibly literally.
